Nintendo Wii Media | Red Steel Multiplayer Footage

By Jorge Ba-oh 26.10.2006 25

With the Wii's launch just weeks away Ubisoft have been finishing off their key launch titles, in particular the hotly anticipated Red Steel, a Japanese themed hybrid of first person shooting and swordplay.

The team have revealed the first footage of the multiplayer element in action on IGN, complete with amusing actors having an orgy of Wii action and fresh footage of the multiplayer maps and options. GoNintendo have kindly YouTubed the video for those unable to view IGN's videos.

Certainly shaping up to be a solid launch title for the system.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Yeah just read a preview in the new ONM there sounds great. I think I'll wait until i hear some reviews though before buying. Is it just me or does 4 player console multiplayer not seem all that tempting anymore with all the 32 player online games etc...

Must be difficult to aim in such a small section of the screen.

wow it looks great!! still not happy about not having online!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Awesome stuff. Would have been great in Online Multiplayer. Still alls well.

Hopefully we'll see online in the inevitable Red Steel 2.

Looks like Nintendo are using the same strategy as the DS: launch the console touting innovative controls and new types of game, then launch the online slightly later. Online will soon ramp up, I'm sure of it.

Oh and to whoever asked "won't it be difficult aiming at such a small portion of the screen" remember that you're not actually aiming at the screen, you're aiming at the sensor bar. That won't be affected by the size of your TV or the number of subscreens on it.

"This man has advanced communist views ... He dresses in a bohemian fashion both at his office and in his leisure hours."

Sooooo reminds me of golden eye.

SO i assume no sword fighting in multiplayer.

And I wished they stopped showing pictures of people playing the game laughing...just gameplay would show more.

I thought the frame rate looked slow on the multiplayer. A bit jumpy.

Woooooooo!!!

Looked kinda...*cough*....crap, like most of Red Steel. But eh, whatever does it for you guys.

I don't, some parts look really good, some parts look utter crap. The multiplayer doesn't look that good, I reckon they should've just used those resources to better the control.

It looks ok, just the standerd Deathmatch stuff but i do like the way they use the speaker. Shame there is no lan should have at least had that.

Yep, as shit as always. It totally reminds me of Die Hard Vendetta.

I liked it when the top right screen player was walking along the wall diagonally, that seems to happen a lot in red steel because it's so fucking difficult to turn that people do it the bare minimum.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Apparently the new scheme means if you point off the screen to one side it turns a lot sharper. I hope that this really does improve things. Also keep in mind that this a first generation game. Im almost certain that at some point there will be a game with the pc mouse setup, and depending how that goes might become the standard to have either bounding box, or pc fps centre movement.
