    Original article:

Fancy putting down the DS for a spot of reading? We have 3 copies of the superb gaming book The 50 Greatest Video Games of All Time to give away in an exclusive competition.

Catch up on your gaming knowledge below...

The author describes the book - "The games industry is bigger than Hollywood. There are books about sitcoms and soaps, books by and about celebrity chefs, rockstars and reality TV stars but nothing about games! Until now. "Game On!" breaks new ground. There have been books on the history of gaming (yawn), books about the artwork of specific games or books that tell you all the cheats and gameplay tips (great, if you are a hardcore fan) but nothing for the general enthusiast, the weekend gamer, the people who know how cool games are but have had nothing to help them celebrate that fact. And it's not just about them, it's also about their long-suffering relatives who don't want to have to fork out GBP35 every time a birthday comes round...

Authoritative and lavishly illustrated "Game On!" is a celebration of the raw excitement and sheer visceral fun of games. Focusing on the 50 greatest games of all time, it vividly recreates what made each title so great, gives key information on the development and success of each title and above all how the reader can find and play it."

We have three copies to give away - to enter, you'll need to write a short (no more than 100 words) description on the following:

Let us know what your all-time favourite game is and why!

  • The three most unique and creative entries will each take away a copy of the book.
  • Please email your entry to competition@cubed3.com.
  • Only one entry per member/household will be accepted, so be sure to look over your work!

Does it have to be essay-like, or can you make use of the odd swear/couple jokes?

Lol, you decide Smilie Essentially make it short, sweet and try to be unique. A paragraph or so, nothing too long! Longer it is less chance we'd read it Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

"The promise of mature gaming on the GameCube finally comes from a top quality release courtesy of Nintendo itself. Get ready to shoot, jump and puzzle your way through Metroid Prime, the creepiest, coolest GameCube game yet.

As difficult to pigeonhole as its predecessors, Metroid Prime is not, despite what the first person viewpoint might suggest, just a shoot-'em-up. Containing as much platform jumping and puzzle solving as shooting, the game is more like an action-based version of Zelda than any one-note Doom clone."

Is something like this OK!?!? And only 88 words long Smilie

Come on C3! I want a competition that I can enter!!

Vote 1, Eternal Darkness 2 for Wii

Hey JB, how about we do our own top 50 games? We all vote and see which is the favorite?

That's something that can be done soon after the competition closes, I'm sure.

As for the person marking your entries, that would be me, your trusty Head Writer Smilie

You CAN swear, but it's not going to help your cause as I don't particularly tolerate it much. Make it funny, serious, spooky even (since Halloween is coming up). Just make it creative and I'll judge the best three Smilie

I would write about "Little Big Adventure"...the masterpiece game created by Fredric Raynal. (who also created the survival horror genra before Capcom nicked it).

I could talk for ages about LBA, the wonderious explorable worlds, the zelda-ish puzzles, the fantasticaly well told story.

But if I started writting, I wouldnt be finnished till next week :p
