Latest update - Some new shots have been added to the media folder, but the main update is to let you all see the gorgeous official trailer that was released by Square Enix at the recent Tokyo Games Show. Either download here from the Square Enix website or check out the You Tube version below:
This really shows how well Brownie Brown and Square Enix are using the DS capabilities in terms of beautiful visuals, amazing video work and clever use of the touch-screen for tactics in what has become more of a real-time strategy RPG than a straight-up Final Fantasy Tactics / Fire Emblem effort.
Stay tuned for more!
Updated - Square Enix has today released eight fresh screens from the Brownie Brown-developed Heroes of Mana. What is very interesting is that two are most definitely shots from the classic Japanese-only release Seiken Densetsu 3 (what many dub as 'Secret of Mana 2'). Could this simply be an error, or will the original game be included or released separately as the two titles share a similar storyline?

Original Story: With Children of Mana not even confirmed for a European release yet, Square Enix has already stormed ahead and announced Heroes of Mana for the Nintendo DS. The game will be a strategy twist for the series and is actually being developed by Nintendo-owned Brownie Brown (Magical Vacation GBA, Magical Starsign DS, Sword of Mana GBA, Mother 3 GBA).
Scant details are known about the project just now, but here are a few tidbits. The hero of the game is called Roger, and he is an intelligent and diplomatic young man that lives in the Kingdom of Pedan. Roger is in the military and uses an airship as his base.
Fights with monsters are dealt with in real-time battles that have a strategy feel to them. Materials can be uncovered along the journey, collected and them used to create new monsters, which can then be used to aide you in battle - in a vaguely similar way to that of the system used in Squaresoft's Legend of Mana on the PSone, a game that Brownie Brown's members worked on before breaking away and forming the Nintendo Second Party team.
Currently there is no firm release date, other than '2007'. But for the time being, why not check out some of the new media?
Stick around for further updates...
