Nintendo Rumours | Capcom/Sony Dealings, Rez Wii, Wii Sports

By Mike Mason 12.09.2006 21

Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) has released its latest issue over in America, the October 2006 edition. Its popular rumour column offers some interesting speculation as usual.

On the Nintendo front, it is being said that Wii Sports will include over 30 games - a far leap from the 3 we have seen on display up until now. Square-Enix may be ploughing even more onto DS with the announcement of a Final Fantasy XIII spin-off strategy RPG on the system, and a sequel to Rez may be appearing on either Playstation 3 or...Wii!

Moving on to other companies, Sony are one of the main subjects of the talk this month. It is thought that a few major third parties will be dropping PSP support, likely as a result of DS' handheld market grip growing. On the positive side for Sony, they may have 'persuaded' Capcom to create Resident Evil 5 exclusively for Playstation 3 - as well as a sequel to Xbox 360 title Dead Rising. On the note of Capcom, Street Fighter IV is rumoured to be released in 2007.

Finally, it is said that EA are developing a survival horror title for next generation consoles, though there have been no specifics mentioned.

Stick with C3 to find out if any of these rumours come true!

30 GAME in WiiSports, if that is true and if it comes free with the system, then SmilieSmilieSmilie

30 games would be sweetttt - hope they're fairly developed/have various options to play through!

I'd prefer them to be quite simplistic.. party sports.. like a collection of monkey ball mini games or something.

I reckon that's what we should be expecting. The three shown so far have that kind of slant to them, I can't imagine them being very in depth, especially if there are 30 of them. Hope that one turns out to be true, and I REALLY hope it ends up packed in.

Lol, I don't mean like Mario Tennis / Virtual Tennis kinda depth (taking Tennis as an example) - but just offering a few different gameplay options per sport, different courts, locations etc.

Tournament modes/point builders would be great for parties!

It will be simplistic, you don't even get control the movement in tennis (I mean like running).

But there aren't even 30 sports... Unless maybe you include crap like curling >.>

Street Fighter 4 sounds sextacular :3

He he... I just noticed the title says 'Wii Wii' Smilie

... Sorry...

Rez for Wii please.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Wow, I can't even think of 30 different sports to implement the unique control methods. Possibly Lacrosse and Tiddlywinks Smilie

Thought you might like that. Smilie

Wii Sports Tiddliwinks sounds really good actually. In fact, I reckon you could base an entire Monkeyball/Marble Madness style game on that concept. Or perhaps even a Tetris style game

Wii Sports Ping Pong
Wii Sports Badminton
Wii Sports Ice Hockey
Wii Sports Cricket (please, please, please)

any other suggestions?

I want Resident Evil 5 on the Wii fuck i really hate CAPCOM they are treating Nintendo's fans like wankers and we probably wouldn't get Street Fighter.

It's funny how Konami a SONY loyalist seems to loosening it's links with SONY and branching out but CAPCOM seem to be doing the opposite.

Pestneb you could add Gealic Football and Hurling then it would be an instant success in Ireland

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

Street Fighter for Wii. If Capcom have any sense they should release a new Street Fighter for the Wii. Nintendo needs a good fighter on it's consoles.

30 games, wow Nintendo has been holding out on us.

If there really are 30 games on Wii Sports then I highly doubt it will be bundled with the console.

jumping into a sandpit (the actual name escapes me, but I'm sure we all know what I mean)

Smilie Long jump?

30 sport? My god they should rename it to Wii Olympics.

I hope R.E. 5 isnt made an exclusive for Sony, because i dont plan on buying a PS3 for another few years. It will have to drop in price quite drastically before i decide to waste $$ on that machine. But for the Wii Sports that sounds like fun and it might be worth the $$ as well Smilie And Capcom needs new material street fighter is like OLD... im tired of it, it isnt made of greatness like Final Fantasy

My Ways are far to advanced for you to comprehend!

guys that want R.E...there will be a exclusive for the Wii so dont worry.SmilieSmilie
