Nintendo News | LucasArts Needs A Wii

By Jorge Ba-oh 22.07.2006 18

Quick News: During the Comic-Con event in San Diego, representatives from LucasArts confirmed that all three next-gen systems are part of their upcoming line-up, Wii included. According to IGN, when questioned about a possible Star Wars title, a likeness between the Wii-mote and a lightsaber were made, as well as reaffirming all systems will be covered. Could this allow for a Wii Star Wars exclusive?

Stay tuned for further updates.

Oh Dear God Yes!!!!

"This man has advanced communist views ... He dresses in a bohemian fashion both at his office and in his leisure hours."

100% expected. I think they should have said something earlier, to get people focused on saving money for the games when they buy the system.

I can see why they have been excited by the 360 graphics, but realistically they will have a broader audience with the Wii.

I can't imagine anyone turning down the chance for a Wii-Saber battle..

No sh*t Sherlock, this was bound to happen.

Lucas Arts pratically has too.

"New Wii controller!"
"It could be a gun!"
"Yeah!"
"Or Lightsaber!!!!"
"*drools*

It was one of the first things anyone thought of. Let's hope they pour everything into this game so I'm not just buying a crap game with a really cool control scheme.

could also work for controlling X-wings, just holed the controller like a joy-stick and use B to fire.(the spongeBob game is doing the exact same thing)

-Have you any idea what it's like to be a Fembot living in a Manbot's Manputer's world?
-What?

Who is that aimed at? Its news at the end of the day, so if you think it is pointless news, why, uh, read it? Smilie

As long as they create a brand new Monkey Island game for all 3 consoles and then port the first 3 to the DS then I'll be a happy chappy.

Yeah, and then after that, we can look forward to NiGHTs DS, Earthworm Jim DS, Goldeneye on the VC and flying pigs!

we kinda knew that LucasArt were gonna make a StrWars game for Wii!! Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

I'll only be happy if Tennapel, Dave Perry, and the rest of the original team are working on it. The upcoming EWJ PSP game is being done by completely different people in Shiny and very little input from Tennapel, and Tennapel isn't very happy by the looks of the way the game's coming out.

But my point was, it wasn't that far fetched, they just happened to pick the PSP instead of the DS, and while they're playing with the EWJ license there's possibly a very teeny weeny chance they'll bring it to the DS.

And there might be an agreement about GoldenEye on the VC. It can't be on the Live Arcade because it was originally on the N64, am I right to think that? So they could come to agree that the game come out on both the VC and the Live arcade. Possibly.

didnt nintendo originally state something along the lines of using the wii remote as a light saber would be cool. now with the speaker you 'll even get the sounds. fantastic. they'd be fools not to. if executed well it would sell a ton of wii's and games. it goota be a winner.

A Star Wars game with epic lightsaber, force & blaster combat is an absolute must for Wii.

I'm going to be really upset if LA announces only one Star Wars game is in the pipe for Wii. I'm already disappointed with them for not being onboard for Wii at the very begining.

The one Star Wars game I absolutely MUST HAVE is Rogue Squadron IV! Wii's controller would be so perfect for this type of game. It could take it to a whole new level (especially if Factor 5 were to implement on-foot missions again from a first or third person perspective). They need to have an alternate control scheme that allows true 360 degree free flight for us advanced pilots. That and I really wish they'd make it technically accurate to official LucasFilm tech material. Very robust multiplayer verses & co-op modes both off & online are a must. Here's hoping.

Chance favors the prepared mind.

I think all new this was gonna happen...but I think speak for everyone that it a lot more reassuring when they actually confirm it. Great news, hopefully melee combat with Wii will be refined by the time the development process starts so we get fluid lightsabre battles.

Apparently, a gorgeous trailer for an upcoming SW game was shown...but for PS3/360.

Yeah, I saw that jb. It had force usage galore, some impressive physics all around.

Very glad they've finally committed to Wii, but it was pretty inevitable. I'm hoping that they don't just do a light sabre based game and do something entirely different as well - it'd be great, but I don't want them to be a one trick wonder.
