Nintendo DS Media | Kaitou Rousseau

By Karn Spydar Lee Bianco 24.06.2006 20

Kaitou Rousseau translates to Phantom Thief Rousseau in English and seems to do exactly what it says on the tasty box-art, except not in the way you might expect it too.

Rousseau is an ordinary elementary school student until the day his high school sweetheart is rudely kidnapped forcing him to don a cat burglar outfit and go in search of her!

Fresh from YouTube we have some footage of the game in action, you can check it out below:

lol it looks completly nuts, hopfully it will get a release over here. Seems any game that makes really good use of the touch screen no matter how strange or bizzare seems to make it over here. So if this gets a great score in famitsu i don't see why it shouldn't be broght over Smilie.

Love it. NOONE does trailers like the Japanese Smilie

looks preety good!!! Smilie the game looks like point and click games!?!? is this true or dont oyu guy sknow?!?!?

Japanese adverts rock!!!! Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

It is like a point-and-click adventure. Meant to be a very decent game indeed and currently doing 'okay' in Japan.

I've been looking forward to this for ages, since it was announced and the first screens appeared, so nice to see some new footage. Definitely going to get this upon western release.

Hehe, that's an awesome game concept, although if it's completely free drawing from memory it would be a bit difficult for non-artists. It's funny that they threw in the Prince and I believe Shiba Ganju from Bleach

This and the US-developed 'Drawn to Life' (which is a similar concept) look like so much fun!

If Dig Dug: Digging Strike and Pac-Pix got releases in the west, this is definitely getting one.

Ah but both of those sold like old tomatoes, I dunno... gut instinct says we may not see this.

I've learnt to expect the unexpected with DS. We've gotten quite a few games that I wouldn't have expected them to release.

True, Phoenix Wright and Trauma Centre leap to mind... but this would be pushing it.

Why is this so much more out there than the likes of Electroplankton, Tamagotchi Corner Shop, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, Brain Training or Cooking Mama, all confirmed to be coming out here or already out? Even if Namco don't do it, I could see Nintendo taking it to translate and publish themselves, if only to strengthen their Touch Generation campaign, in which this would probably fit well.

Electroplankton, Tamagotchi Corner Shop, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, Brain Training or Cooking Mama

Tamagotchi is a recognised brand, Ouendan is being "westernised" and Brain Training isn't that out there. The art style, music and general feel to this game will put western publishers off.

Tamagotchi might be recognised as a brand, but it's weaker now and the game's still weird as heck. Kaitou isn't the weirdest game I've ever seen, it's just a bit inventive - if it was to be published over here, it'd be Namco or Nintendo, and neither of them seem to have any qualms about releasing strange stuff to a wider audience.

Meh, I hope so. Just don't see it happening.

On another note am I the only one who hates that all official DS trailers are shown those Fake DS screens? Smilie

this is well wacky and i love it. i bet it wont get release here though and thats a shame.

XD ... Man that game looks awesome. It should be against the law to not release awesome games outside of Japan

Still a proud member of the 'omfg amazing water in games' society

If the odd Hotel Dusk can make it to the West, then the likes of this and Project Hacker should do as well Smilie
