including the awkward Friends Code system.

Damn, that could be annoying! At least it will make it 'simple and safe' though.

DOH! I would have thought they'd have changed the Friend Codes system by now..

Oh well, goin offline, byes!

Geeeez come on nintendo! I know your getting all these unique connections and the service great but MULTIPLE FRIEND CODES SUCK!!!

ok. that sucks. what was i saying yesterday Grumbles?

Damn friend Codes!!!

IANC said:
Dude yuor totally awesome. And i won't be killing you anytime soon.

They're not that bad, once you get used to them.

Dammit - that's so retarded. They should have a profile with unique global friend code, the same for all games.

I mean it's definitely not practical to have so many stupid long-winded codes. Urgh. Like the days of passwords all over again.

Come on folks, this was inevitable. The good side to this is that we could see communications across platforms i.e. visiting a friend's town on their Wii using your DS. Its good news either way but maybe too expected with the Friends Code system.

Damn it, about the only bad thing I've heard all E3 Smilie The Friend Code idea was a good introduction for Nintendo into the world of online gaming, but as the concole changes, surley the way we play should change too? The DS method seams cheap after a while to me.

To sum it up: BOO to Friend Codes!

It sucks cause while i feel it's acceptable with a handheld since your usally conserving power so you turn wi fi off when you arn't gonna play online but with the Wii which is supposed to be online all the time!! means theres no way of knowing if your online in other games (no invites) which should be possible the more advanced hardware.

they shouldn't be there period.

If it was indeed one Friend Code per person it could possibly be lived with...but for EACH SODDING GAME? Nah, I gave up doing that after Mario Kart...not bothered with AC, nor Tetris and Metroid. Random people FTW! Smilie

FUCK YOU NINTENDO. Give us the awesome wii and a shit online system? Im not remotely happy. This BETTER BE CHANGED.

The problem isnt just friends codes. On XBL, you can see where your frends are, invite them to your game, and send messages. No luck of that here. Nintendo you fucking piss me off.

That said nothing about multiple friend codes. The question was about "a friend code system." I do believe that the friend code system or something like it must be included. With my games I want to decide who has full access to me in each game. If you have my friend code you still need me to input your friend code to visit my animal crossing town. I hope they boil it down to one friend code, but I desperately want that one. You can now with the DS and will later on the Wii be able to play with random people. However, a simple barrier between me and the assholes is absolutely necessary for my enjoyment of online games.

No IM?! the thing is going to have a web browser! You and or I could set up games on C3

I havent even bothered attempting to take my ds online because of all the crap about these dumbass codes.

Being a PC gamer, I'm used to just running a game and bam an instant list of servers which I can join immediatly.

I'm not fucking around with codes Nintendo. Change it, because it won't take off anywhere near as it could if it's left like this.

thats so long winded. one gamertag. your playing Metroid, im playing Smash Bros. i can see what game you are playing, send you messages, invite you to play smash bros etc.

setting up games on c3 Smilie

earlier i was quite optimistic about nintys online. this is such a kick in the nuts. seriously, i was quite excited about certain Nintendo games online, but not like this. how am i meant to have 16 of my friends in one game quickly? on x box live you can message all online friends. or invite all online frineds into your party.

friend codes are gay

I'll be hunting you down in the forum thread for a star, my good sir.

Just because it uses a friend code system doesn't mean it'll be like the DS. Wii is a console, not a Hardware restricted handheld, it has on board memory (or loads of it) so it's piss easy to have one FC for all games (like gamertags).

I'll have similar negative reactions as seen here if it's one code for each game, but I seriously doubt it will be (expect the system and game to tie into each other, code wise though, if that's a problem for you).

The FC system is a fantastic way to do things, just look at the retarded negative news from ABC (?) saying "oh noes DS is a pedo machine", when in regards to just pictochat.

High five buddah.

This is going to be so restricting compared to live. Not being able to see whos in what game? No messages? Terrible.

Oh yay, friend codes...

I don't mind them, but they are a bit annoying. It'll be interesting to see if Wii online is anymore 'open' and perhaps functional than DS online. Whilst the DS online system is good, it is a bit sparse at time, hopefully the Wii will offer more and be a bit less restrictive.

Trying to think of a witty signature after 'Hacker-gate'...

Gah it's a handheld made system they will be using. It will be so stupid. It feels restrictive on a handheld but being online on a handheld is restrictive by nature since your only playing online when your about to play online. But Wii is ment to be online 24 hours a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously i hope it is one friend code and they use it in a way similer to a gamertag.

I wonder if Ninty are scared of changing a winning formula. The DS online has been freakishly successfully and they may just try and copy the formula.

But the wii could be even more successful. I barely play my DS onlien because the way it's done is so shit.

But the wii could be even more successful.

I agree, but why break a winning formula?

Because it was desighned for a handheld! They make it so simple to connect yet so fucking long winded to get a game going.
