E3 2006 Screens | Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Nintendo Wii)

By James Temperton 09.05.2006 21

Developed by Retro, and with a release date still to be announced, this is a stunning looking title that is sure to be one of the highlights for the Nintendo Wii! Screens and details below.

If you think you knew what it felt like to be the bounty hunter behind the visor, think again. Take aim at evil with Nintendo's revolutionary controller.

  • Players control Samus by moving with the Nunchuk controller and aiming with the pointer, allowing for a level of immersion unlike anything they have ever experienced. Through the eyes of Samus, players experience a quantum leap in first-person control as they wield the Wii Remote, the ultimate device for the first-person shooter genre.

  • Samus will employ well-known power-ups like the Grapple Beam and Morph Ball, as well as a bunch of new surprises, to help her survive her coming trials.
Game storyline: The Galactic Federation's Base Sector Zero is under attack by Space Pirates. Samus must boot up the generator to restore the defence systems. But at the end of her path, someone awful is waiting for her.

Characters: Samus, Dark Samus, the Galactic Federation and many new bounty hunters.
How to progress through the game: The war initiated by Dark Samus and the Space Pirates rages across many planets as they attempt to corrupt each with Phazon seeds. Players use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to explore alien landscapes, hunt for weapons and information, and destroy the seeds. Saving the planets from Corruption isn't enough, though. Eventually, players must take down Samus' mortal enemy, Dark Samus.

Special powers/weapons/moves/features: Besides using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers to pull off amazing feats like aiming and blasting in midair or at a full run, players also will have an array of different weapons at their disposal. In true Metroid fashion, these will become powered up as the game progresses. Not only that, but the controller will be used for a number of other game elements beyond the traditional first-person shooter standards.

    Offensive grappling beam FTWSmilie!!!!

No way is that the official Metroid Prime: Corruption logo.

The corruption bit looks a bit shit, the rest looks alright.

amazing feats like aiming and blasting in midair or at a full run

thats not exactly an amazing feat. after playing Halo and going back to Prime, it annoyed me so much that you have to stop to aim. every first person game should have one means ofd control to run, and another to aim. as standard.

good to see this implemented though, make the game alot more skillful. even though theres a lock on any way. but still. yeh good stuff.

Graphics are same as on GC.Smilie

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

yeah the grabble beam were you get to pull you enemys in is amazing cant wait for it. I didnt thik they were, they look like a nice improvemnt from the Gamecube.

I still hope that they keep it an FPA, hunters just doesnt feel right.

-Have you any idea what it's like to be a Fembot living in a Manbot's Manputer's world?
    -What?

From the look of it is more of a FPA, which unfortunatly means crap multiplayer again.

Well, I don't care about multiplayer, it was crap on MP2E, so meh. I think that a better dual stick mode will be on this, an easier way to aim, it's clear, the Wiimote is perfect.

The graphics you're right about, they aren't as impressive as they should be, they're like MP2E, although that game WAS the height of Current gen graphics, but this one could look so much better, especially if they even got Mario to look the way his game does.

Noone can touch Sonic, duuuun dun dun dun, dun dun, dun dun Can't touch this.

Matt Cassamasina got a hands on with it, he says the graphics arn't really a huge leap, crisper and enviorments are a lot lot bigger. Character models are better, more on screen enimies at once and way better AI.

By the way, I really like the Logo, I think it's cool! Smilie

wow i loved this game!! since the first second i saw it!!! lol cant wait for this one!!!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Metroid Prime 3 should be looking alot better, I'm struggling to notice anything different from MP2.

Probably the most impressive Revolution game I've seen so far is Rayman!

I'd say Mario Galexy is the best along with RedSteel.

I thought mario galaxy was weird looking (gameplay wise). So far I think I am most excited about Red Steel. I'm still looking forward to the Sadness trailor also Smilie

Working like a fiend isn't very fun... and surprisingly isn't very fiendish either.

I'd say Mario Galexy is the best along with RedSteel.

Redsteel.... it has some nice effects, but some of it looks really really bad, like EA standardsSmilie

I dunno looks pretty sweet to me better than Rayman thats for sure lol

    GameTrailers
