As MyM Magazine hits its platinum issue, it has gone above and beyond with its interviews. The team has landed some unbelievable exclusives this month. The cover spot is dedicated to a new adventure game, Forgotten Anne. The magazine includes a huge three-page interview on the game where the developer cites the works of Ghibli and Satoshi Kon as inspiration. In the screenshots this inspiration is clear and the passion of the developer really shines through, and this indie title from ThroughLine Games (part of the Square Enix Collective) looks very promising.
There are so, so many other interviews. A big feature with an interview with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui about his new play, Pluto, inspired by Osamu Tezuka's iconic Astro Boy; plus an interview with actor Scott Grimes, who previously provided the voice of Kevin Swanson on Seth Macfarlane's Family Guy and is now getting a bigger part in Seth's latest creation. He's playing Gordon Malloy, the helmsman of the Orville, on the strange new Star Trek-inspired comedy/drama.
Korean movies have been getting better and better in recent years and have really broken into the UK markets with films like Train to Busan, The Host, and The Age of Shadows and now MyM got to speak with a director debuting his very first film, an adaptation of true story of a face-off in Seoul between the police and a group of criminals in The Outlaws.
Then there are some big interviews. MyM is so lucky to be able to speak with the Legendary Japanese director, Takashi Miike, about his 100th film, Blade of the Immortal. Miike is always a joy and it's a great interview. Then there is anime industry veteran, Masao Maruyama. While his name hasn't become as famous as some of the people he has worked with, like Satoshi Kon, Mamoru Hosoda, Shinichiro Watanabe and even Osamu Tezuka, he has been a key part of so many anime series that any otaku reader will be hard pressed to have not seen any of his work. Not to mention he was one of the founders of both Madhouse and MAPPA. He's on hand with MyM at Scotland Loves Anime to talk about his vast experience and history in the industry.
All this, along with tons more articles and features, including the usual cosplay photos and interviews with cosplayers, game previews for the upcoming quarter, anime reviews for the latest big titles from all the major anime distributors, comics, movies and more! MyM Magazine 70 is available now from all good retailers.
