New Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch Trailer on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Heading to Nintendo Switch in time for Winter 2017 is Monolith Soft's latest Xenoblade adventure, a direct sequel to the Wii release, simply going as Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for the time being. Whether or not a subtitle gets added further down the line is simply down to speculation right now, but whatever the case, one of the hottest RPG series around - following on from the massive success of the Wii original and New Nintendo 3DS port, plus the Wii U iteration of Xenoblade Chronicles X - is not too far off and an in-depth trailer has been revealed.

There are some concerns about the voice acting, with the lead male character coming in for some early criticism from some corners, and the change in art direction to look more akin to the Tales series has also split fan opinions so far.

MC sounds like he's from Yorkshire or something. Nomura on character design suggests why he looks like ass. Otherwise, hopefully it's good. I was hoping for an XCX Switch port, but I guess Wii U is the only option...

I thought I read that Nomura only did the design for the heroine alone.

Otherwise, I hate the voice acting so far, it's piss poor. I hope for a Japanese option. If not, I'll just import a Japanese copy if it holds the Japanese voices only but the text for all other languages. But with Zelda offering voice options, I'd be surprised if this one didn't.

I thought that the main VO sounded a bit like Theon Grayjoy from Games of Thrones. Then there's a funky Aussie accent thrown into the mix, if I'm not mistaken. Sounds a bit all over the place at the moment.

it was enough to set the standard and everything had to compliment it.
really weak outfit designs all around.

but yeah the Voice acting is really bad too

i have a suspicion the main character's voice actor is probably an american trying to do an english accent.

it just reeks like a bone head Nintendo of America move to do because they saw how people liked the english accents in 1 and this is their sloppy way of trying to get that crowd back.

I'm usually pretty good with picking up accents, or if it's an American putting one on. I really feel this is a northern English one for the MC. Defo has that Yorkshire twang, or thereabouts.

Nice to have something different. Doesn't mean the acting itself is good tho. Everyone gushes over Xeno 1 too, but I can't help but feel it's just because it's a primarily British cast (same with Last Story) that people like it. In general, the acting was actually pretty poor imo.

to me the highlight of xeno was defintily the performances. especially reyn because he was just so energetic and full of life. he reallly felt like he embodied the character and had so much fun which in turn made me have fun listening to him.

i can say that i know last story isnt as fondly remembered in spite of the english accents.

That was quite the opposite for me. I prefered the cast of The Last Story, except as I always say on the subject, the voice of the protagonist, Zael. I know off the top of my head that he was voiced by a pretty well known English actor from a brit soap opera or summat that I have never watched (Eastenders or something? Can't recall now) but I never liked the voice of that character in particular. Not so much the performance perhaps, but a bad choice of VA for that particular character. He made him sound like a wimp throughout the game, which he actually wasn't at all.

I can't believe this is coming out this year, thats crazy to think they developed another Xenoblade this fast,i wonder if its resusing some of X's assets or something??
