Mortal Kombat: Deception to GameCube......Midway Changes its Mind!Despite only fair-to-average reviews of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance across all formats last year, the game was seen to be a revolution compared to the old, 2D-style titles that first appeared on the 16bit consoles and thus was lapped-up by gamers with a penchant for the fighting genre. Delight spread around the gaming community when a trademark for a new MK game appeared on the US Patents website and eventually sheer delerium hit when Midway confirmed its existance, under the new title of Mortal Kombat: Deception. However, disaster struck when the developer announced that due to financial constraints and the fact that Deception was to utilise the Internet quite heavily, a GameCube version would not be forthcoming, with it remaining exclusive to the PS2 and XBOX. Fast forward to now, though, and following much furore and a massive out-cry from Nintendo fans that desire more blood and guts on their GameCubes, we finally find that Midway has turned completely around and changed its mind, much to everyone's relief. Mortal Kombat: Deception will indeed be heading to the Nintendo GameCube...but not in October of this year (like the other versions), Spring 2005 instead, complete with two new gameplay extras to make up for the lack of online features.
