Animal Crossing: New Leaf Getting amiibo Functionality

A free update to Animal Crossing: New Leaf is being released this fall that will bring amiibo functionality into the game.

Scanning in any of the 400 Animal Crossing amiibo cards will bring that villager into your town for a visit. If they like your village, they may even decide to move in. The entire line of Animal Crossing amiibo figures will also provide some functionality, though their precise use has not yet been revealed.

Additionally, certain figures from other amiibo lines may also be scanned in to receive themed items and clothing.
