The Mayor of London recently showed up, officially, in Minecraft form to promote the London Games Festival.
Whether you love or loathe the guy, Boris Johnson has taken on a new level of press conference giving. The announcement today covered a $1.2 million investment into the London games industry to provide more funding and opportunities for games studios to be based in the capital, and attracting existing ones to consider bringing their business to London.
The London Games Festival was also announced, a ten day event that showcases different projects, campaigns and talks across London, starting 1st April.
The move highlights a turnaround from Johnson's stance a decade ago, where he described games as being responsible for "ignorance and underachievement and, yes, poverty." He also urged parents to "steel yourself for the screams [of their children] and yank out that plug."
What are your thoughts on the move and the investment being poured into London?
