The Xeno in Xenoblade Explained on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Why does Xenoblade Chronicles X bare the Xeno name?

There have been numerous titles that have been lumped into the Xeno franchise over the years, starting with three Xenosaga games released on PlayStation 2, a Nintendo DS port and more recently with Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii.

The connection between Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X is only in name, primarily, with only similar themes of exploration woven throughout. The main reason for the decision to include the "Xeno" in title, however, was to give a "helpful way of communicating to people that these are all games that we here at Monolith have worked on," according to director Tetsuya Takahashi.

I will say that the Xeno that you would find on each of these titles might refer to something different in each of these games each time. That's something that I really want players to discover.

Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii is the best one so far in my opinion. X is going to be well behind it due to the lowered focus on character and story.

The Japanese reviews were all very clear about the game being good and fun but lacking a certain something that made the original chronicles so good.

I own all the consoles, ask me anything

I don't know, i wasn't keen on xenoblades plot after the halfway point. Xenoblade X apparently has a deeper focus on character development and choice. With a lot more characters, and affinity sidequests. So i'm thinking it could be a step up.
