Splatoon players are in for an expansive update for the game, with the new content arriving next week.
On 6th August (5th August in the US), players will receive a range of new modes, weapon types, gear and also an increase to the game's level cap.
Players, a vast majority, are already sitting comfortably on the level 20 mark in the online Turf Wars. This will now rise to a maximum of level 50, with Ranked Battle soaring to S and S+ for those who are just a little bit too good at bombarding floors with ink.
In addition, there will be the introduction of both "Squad Battle" and private matches amongst friends.
Squad Battle allows players to team up as a group of two or four inklings, ensuring that they're always on the same team. The private matches, however, will allow a varied combination of players - for example the rather unbalanced 1vs4 or 1vs2. It's going to get messy.
Two new weapon types will be added to the mix - the bucket-like "Slosher" that allows for a good paint splat-height, plus the "Splatling", a fierce Gatling-esque gun that can charge up ink for massive damage.
Finally, a selection of over 40 pieces of new gear will be available to customise those adorable inklings.
Beyond the August update, there will be continual content additions, plus the "Rainmaker" Ranked Battle mode, maps and new weapons throughout the coming months.
