C3 Plays | Splatoon Playthrough Demo on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo are holding a free online session for Splatoon this week, as players splat ink across the globe on Wii U.

A free Splatoon demo called "Global Testfire" allows for Wii U owners to get stuck into the heated online "Turf Wars", a four-on-four team battle where folk bundle together to spray as much ink across the stage as possible. Swim through ink to avoid enemy fire, scurry up walls for a vantage point and - most of all - ink like crazy to avoid being thrown back to the spawn point. 

Splatoon will be available on 29th May.

This week Nintendo also confirmed Splatoon online details, including planned updates and Splatoon DLC.

Got to play last night and it was awesome!

Lots of fun to play and try out different strategies. I think I played on three different levels.
Easy to control and the game looked great.

Only got to try two of the four weapons (mainly because I started playing and was having so much fun I didn't think to try something else until about 15 minutes to go).

Had zero connection issues until the last couple of minutes, but I'm pretty sure that was because they started turning off the servers. The rest of the time had zero lag and zero disconnects.

Probably won't get to play again today, but I will definitely be getting the game later this month!
