Xenoblade Chronicles X Has 11,000 Voice Recordings on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

In an Iwata Asks session with the team behind Xenoblade Chronicles X, the group discussed the voice work in the Wii U RPG.

One of the standout features of the game's Wii predecessor, Xenoblade Chronicles, was the sheer amount of voiced dialogue included in the game. Despite mixed opinion from players, the team felt that the talking portions "made the game stand out."

There were around 3,000 lines of script recorded for Xenoblade Chronicles, but in the Wii U successor, the number has be en upped up to 11,000 lines. That's not a typo, with around four times as many voice recordings crafted for Xenoblade Chronicles X.

It got to a point where "some voice actors lost their voices during the recording" as there is a fair bit of shouting involved during battles.

Are you a fan of voice-over work in games like Xenoblade Chronicles X?

Sure. As long as there will be a way to have Japanese voices. Smilie JP voice acting is usually way better in the gaming and anime industry than English ones.

The difference between illusion and reality is vague to the one who suffers from the former and questionable for the one suffering form the later.

For me, The Last Story has an awesome English voice cast... save for the hero's voice which I didn't find fitting enough, he sounded like a sissy, excuse the term. I don't know what it is, but the scenario doesn't make the character feel like he should have had that voice, and I didn't find the acting to be too good either. The other characters were great, it was just the one. The heroin was a bit grating too, but she wasn't around too much so it didn't really stand out.

Xenoblade had fine voice actors.
What you got against  Jenna Coleman ? Smilie

(I assume shes too busy with Doctor Who this time around)

That she did not speak Japanese... Smilie Honestly, to me a JRPG should be in Japanese. XD It is a kind of thing I have. Smilie Just like I watch all anime in Japanese. XD

Though I always pick Japanese if given the choice, English voice acting can be great for JRPGs as well. Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Xillia 1/2 are my favourite recent examples and The Last Story was just fine too. Xenoblade Chronicles on the other hand....I'm still extremely grateful we got Japanese voices for it.

I mean, I love the quotes and Shulk in Smash but to me the English voice cast of Xenoblade Chronicles just felt painfully out of place. You had this vast, epic world and story mixed with commentary that really does sound like it came from a bunch of jokers. Hopefully I'll like this one far more. I would still welcome an optional download for the Japanese voices, as I'm not sure if they can even fit both languages on the disc.

Aww come on XD You know you loved dem Reyn time...... Smilie
