Nintendo are releasing another action packed entry in the Pokémon Rumble franchise this month, a free-to-start game.

Known as Pokémon Rumble World, the game will be free for players to grab hold of from the eShop, with over 700 critters to encounter - from the original 151 monsters from Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, up until the most recent Nintendo 3DS entries.

Launching on 8th April as an eShop download, the game will have a range of content that will need to be paid for to download.

Free to start? Eh, I might keep looking for a cheap copy of the previous game.

I am more curious how much you actually have to purchase.

In the puzzle game, you had gems used to buy more in game currency and turns (you get a few free ones, I earned 15 so far, though the currency I purchased at 12 didn't last too long). Getting in game drops of the currency is nearly pointless, you get $30 a match and can spend around $12000 to put in the battle in your favour. If this game is as stingy, expect to get use to fighting only the intro levels without dumping cash into the game.

At least the puzzle game can be enjoyed for a fair while before progress is impossible without dumping a pile of real cash.

"Free-to-start" rubs me up the wrong way. It's essentially a glorified demo.

The Rumble gameplay is boring anyway so I'll stick to playing Shuffle.

Perhaps they should have kept with a similar model to "Rusty's Real Deal Baseball".... Really anything is better than using the current / Bethesda model.
