Issues with Wii eShop Games Running on Wii U USB Drives on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Some users have been reporting problems when trying to run downloaded Wii titles from an external USB hard drive.

Now that Nintendo is offering players the opportunity to download Wii titles via the Wii U eShop, it seems that there are some issues that need to be fixed. A small number of users have reported bugs like black screens and game crashing when running the likes of Super Mario Galaxy 2 off an external storage device.

When loading the game from the Wii U's internal storage, however, it appears to work correctly.

Nintendo have yet to comment on the issue at time of writing.

Damn... Never had any issues with my own Wii games installed on an external HDD on my old Wii, but Nintendo fails to get this right on Wii U :/. I wonder what's causing the problem, some people got it and others didn't. Might have something to do with incompatibility with certain types of external drives?

That was possible? How did you do use an external hard drive with Wii?

Via Homebrew. I still do  it on mine. All games that I have on disc, works great :-Smilie
