Dolls Are Five Times the Height of an Adult in Xenoblade Chronicles X on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Tetsuya Takahashi, Xenoblade Chronicles X director, took to Twitter again to talk about the mechs in the game.

The upcoming Wii U project will feature soaring metal beasts that players can pilot, which the team refer to as "Dolls." Following on from a previous report, Takahashi noted how the "Dolls' height is about five times that of an adult, making them around 9-10 metres high."

He went on to describe how if these bots were any larger, the "map would also need to be bigger, so we decided upon this size not due to budget constraints, but because it would lead to much slower exploration in human form."

One of the goals for the project was to create "an RPG where humans and robots can co-exist," having trying to solve the challenge since Monolith was founded over 15 years ago.

What do you think of the inclusion of mechs or Dolls in Xenoblade Chronicles X?

Might be good and might be bad. The concern I have is that will be yet just another mech game.. I am not a great fan of mech games or mech anime. Xenoblade was fine as focus was on people and not how cool weapons the mechs have. But I have seen way too many animes and games getting themselves too deep into the mech aspect of the sci-fi world to not be on guard.

The difference between illusion and reality is vague to the one who suffers from the former and questionable for the one suffering form the later.

At this point I would be surprised if there was a heavy focus on mech in this game. I almost forgot they were in the game since all the gameplay demos (like at E3 during Treehouse Live) and so many of the videos don't feature them.

My exact thoughts but as Sonic said above, I don't think they'll be a too big focus. Primarily a fast mean of transportation for the heroes methinks, to travel the vast open world, though I'll likely still want to explore a lot of it on foot personally and take in on all the beautiful details ^^.
