Final Fantasy Explorers Gameplay - Single & Multiplayer, Jobs and Legend Characters on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Famitsu has released gameplay footage videos from Square Enix's hunter-like role-playing game, Final Fantasy Explorers for Nintendo 3DS, releasing 18th December in Japan.

The game will be playable at Tokyo Game Show, but the footage below gives a closer look at gameplay from single-player and multiplayer, plus the jobs on offer and the hub area of Libertas.

The multiplayer footage reveals more Legend Characters that players will be able to transform into using the Trance technique. Cloud Strife had previously been shown as one of the heroes able to be used, but now it is clear that Terra, Squall and Lightning will also be playable. The battle themes from their respective games play during the time they are in use, and special attacks unique to them can be utilised, such as Cloud's Omnislash Limit Break.

White Mage, Knight, Dragoon and Ranger are jobs that are shown off in the below footage.

Looks a tad generic unfortunately... Man Square has suffered greatly ever since management became so bad that Sakaguchi felt he was better off leaving Square-Enix. It's nice to see main characters as temporary avatars but screw Cloud & Clara, I prefer Terra & Squall an day...but it is a shame they're not using her Green hair look from the US release. She seemed so much more unique with green hair instead of blond.

Yes I KNOW that blonde is unique to Japan BUT Celes was already blonde & given the fact Terra is half Esper; her having green hair is perfectly reasonable.

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422

As far as I can see, though it's all very brief in the video, there are two Terras at one point on screen, one blonde and the other seems to have a more green shade to her hair, so it could be a choice to better differentiate one from the other?

Also Terra's hair has only ever been blonde on Yoshitaka Amano's cover art for the Japanese releases of the game, she had green hair in-game even in the Super Famicom version (That's the one I personally own, along with the European GBA release)

Really? Well I guess I'll have to watch the video again closely & thanks for the link for the Japanese version of FF6. I could've sworn I saw a sprite of her in game with blonde hair like Celes has & it looked pretty official.

That's one of the things that worries me about the inevitable FF6 remake. With Dissidia she was blonde by default & you can't change costumes for story mode or cinematics, so I'm worried that with a totally different development team they'll end up messing up on a lot of stuff...that & the FF6 remake will be exclusive to the Vita or ps4 somehow....(shutters)

Wasn't aware of that for Dissidia, as I never played that game

I took screens to better see close up

Opening them in a picture processing software and using the colour dropper to catch the exact hue of her hair off the video it's actually a horrible shade of grey, so I guess the video quality isn't th ebest way to know and we might have to wait for a better show of each character to know for sure what colour they went with. From afar it looks more greenish to me in the first screen above

Well the red & white color scheme of her outfit matches what she wore in FF6 so I guess there's hope. Thanks Rudy!
