AKB48 Features in Smash Bros Advert, Causes a Stir on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Japanese girl group pop AKB48 has featured in a new TV advert campaign to promote Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

Over in Japan, the company put together a ferocious battle montage of the various members of the AKB48 group in Mii form, highlighting the ability to make customisable characters in the upcoming game. Let the battle commence!

The move, however, has had some negative reactions on Twitter, with some viewers noting how the company had "sold its soul" and expressing a disinterest in Nintendo's forthcoming brawler. That said, it's not the first time Nintendo has included pop-stars and footballers in promotional material, and it certainly wouldn't be the last.

What are your thoughts on the campaign, and which celebrities would be a good fit for your region?

Epic! Just epic! Smilie

AKB48 + Super Smash Bros. = Pure AWESOMENESS Smilie

Chance favors the prepared mind.

Good idea, I'd love to see them do a similar celebrity promo here in the states....just make sure you don't chose someone crazy like Miley Cyrus as that could backfire HORRIBLY...

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422
