The team behind Pokkén Tournament recently got together to discuss just how the fighting project is shaping up.
Announced last month for classic coin-op arcades in Japan, the cross-over project between The Pokémon Company and Bandai Namco will see a range of Pokémon go toe-to-toe in a more traditional fighting ring.
Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara, Tekken series chief producer Katsuhiro Harada, and Soulcalibur series producer Masaaki Hoshino spoke about the game in this week's Famitsu magazine.
Just two beasts were shown during the teaser gameplay video - Lucario and Machamp, and there will be a fair few in the game, says Harada - of course not all the 700 available critters, but Pokémon that are "easy to understand, and with a nice range of movements and ways to play."
Despite being developed by the Tekken team, the team isn't considering Tekken characters, but "there might be some sort of hidden elements that could bring a smile to fans of the Tekken series," teased Hoshino.

There will be Pokémon-like features too, like Mega Evolutions, and "plenty of things like that since the early planning stage, in order to make it more like a Pokémon game," said Harada.
Finally, Ishihara would like the game be part of the Pokémon World Championship tournaments as "one of the important titles to those Pokémon battles."
The project is on track for 2015, and is around 30% complete.
