The producer of Mario Maker, Takashi Tezuka, recently discussed a possible 3DS version, level swapping and more.
The upcoming game allows players to create their own set of unique Super Mario Bros. 2D side-scrolling levels for friends to enjoy. The action is primed to go beyond the living room, with Tezuka keen to integrate internet-based sharing, but he would like all creations to at least be "seen by someone", rather than just the top-rated picks. "That's what I'm working on now", he told USGamer in an interview.
Tezuka also noted how a "3DS version is possible", but he feels it's "best for the Wii U GamePad" for now. He didn't rule out a portable version, however, depending on the success of the concept on Wii U. The team prefer the home console's capabilities, as it can have "lot more enemies and elements on the course" but are still "interested in the idea of a portable version."
Finally, Tezuka was asked whether courses can be interconnected, to which he replied that he's "thinking of it."
