E3 2014 | Itagaki: How Devil

Itagaki recently explained how Nintendo picked up Devil's Third as an exclusive for Wii U.

The former Team Ninja head revealed just how Nintendo picked up Devil's Third as a Wii U exclusive game. After the demise of original publisher THQ, Itagaki and his team were looking for a new partner and found "Nintendo who really supported my vision," he said in an interview this week at E3.

Despite the new partnership, Itagaki believes that "I'm not really sure it would have been possible ten years ago," but he has had a longstanding relationship with the company since the NES and SNES days. "There will always be accidents on the battlefield. You have to find ways through those and adapt," he said.

Devil's Third takes place in an alternative United Sates; a land dominated by war and now devoid of all electronics.

I watched the reveal on IGN with Itagaki there and I honestly thought this looked pretty awful. AI was ridiculously stupid, and the transition between first person and third person views looked pretty rough. I get why Nintendo scooped this one up -- it certainly fills a niche they generally struggle to appeal to, but I don't know how much hope I have for this one in its current form.

The way he talks about accidents on the battle field makes it seem he's not too keen on being with Nintendo....I just hope he doesn't go all Benedict Arnold on Nintendo & join another company the second he gets the chance.....though I suppose that's the wrong historical analogy to use...

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422
