E3 2014 Media | Four-on-Four Online Multiplayer Splatoon Revealed for Wii U

Nintendo's new online third-person shooter Splatoon brings four-on-four multiplayer matches to Wii U.

The colourful and chaotic action game sees players teaming up to take over enemy territory, using ink weapons and power-ups to splatter ink over as much as the level as possible. Strategy plays a key role in taking down the enemy and claiming their turf, as players even get to go online to participate in hectic mayhem. The squid-like characters known as Inklings can even speedily travel through the ink to make surprise attacks.

Multiple control options exist on the Wii U GamePad controller, including using the gyroscope to look around and aim more precisely.

Splatoon is expected to launch exclusively on Wii U during the first half of 2015.
