With all the headlines citing Nintendo's sales performance, Michael Pachter has stepped into the ring with his advice on the Wii U's future.
Pachter issued advice to investors, expressing how he feels "the proprietary hardware supported by compelling proprietary software is broken" and that despite strong software from Nintendo, the Wii U's hardware and price isn't competitive enough.
He doesn't feel that Nintendo should exit the console business entirely, but instead make its games available on PS4 and Xbox One, and when ready, "go back to being a proprietary software maker."
In addition, Patcher feels Nintendo should release older games like Game Boy Advance titles on mobiles and tablets, convincing players to buy a 3DS for the more current crop.
Ending on a positive note, he summarised his findings: "We don't believe that Nintendo's troubles are indicative of anything other than that it has an uncompetitive console in the marketplace and mobile is cannibalizing dedicated handheld sales. If Nintendo management addresses these problems, we think that the company has sufficiently strong IP to reverse course and become profitable."
What are your thoughts on Patcher's latest comments - should Nintendo temporarily release games on competing consoles?
