Square-Enix on Warpath: Cancels Next Hitman Game in Favour of Mobile on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Square-Enix has recently gone all in on mobile development. First they ported over nearly their entire back catalog of old 2d games, including a "remake" of Final Fantasy VI that had the Internet up in arms. Now they've doubled down on that strategy by cancelling the next console Hitman game in favour of a mobile Hitman project for iOS and Android.

How deep will Square-Enix's mobile focus go? Will there be a fundamental shift in the company's project planning? Is this a sign of things to come?

Cubed3 has no idea, but no doubt everyone will be waiting to see what happens with the fabled Square-Enix, formerly home of the industry's greatest RPGs.

Such a shame they're taking this route. Thankfully Tomb Raider is still set for another game with how well the reboot did. Smilie

Well this pisses me off...I suppose it's better that Square-Penis doesn't screw up the true Final Fantasy VI remake for 3DS or Wii U (exclusively would be great but Square is not the honorable company they once were so they'll sell out just like Team Ninja & Crapcom) by not making it at all. It's good we get the pure original version on the Wii's Virtual Console at least...not even the psn has access to that version!!

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422
