During the financial results briefing, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata talked about his expectations for 2DS console.
Despite launching alongside perhaps the biggest handheld release this year, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, Iwata admitted that he's not satisfied in how aware consumers are about the advantages of the entry-level portable.
"We are yet to create sufficient awareness", Iwata admitted, feeling that some may consider the form factor to be "too large and heavy to carry". Nintendo will be striving to "achieve higher awareness without causing misunderstandings" going forward. On a positive note, a Club Nintendo survey taken by those who now own a 2DS stated that they would not have purchased a 3DS otherwise.
Iwata wrapped up the 2DS portion of the meeting by stating: "We have a strong feeling that Nintendo 2DS is going to be a force in further propelling the popularity of Nintendo 3DS in the overseas markets".
Can the Nintendo 2DS seal the deal with potential 3DS consumers this holiday season?
