Nintendo Confirms the Ending of Wii Production in Japan on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo has ended the production of the original Wii in Japan.

The move was confirmed earlier this month, however the House of Mario have today highlighted how "manufacturing has ended", which will mean that once stock of the hardware has been sold, it'll eventually become a rarity to find new.

The Wii grew from nothing to becoming Nintendo's most successful console to date, selling over 100 million units as of June 2013. Its legacy remains with some exceptional titles including Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story and of course, the game that started it all, Wii Sports.
