A Look at the Single Screen used in Nintendo 2DS Consoles on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

One Nintendo 2DS owner has torn apart the console to reveal the previously speculated single screen.

Because of the new, slate shape for the Nintendo 2DS console, Nintendo were able to minimise on the production costs by using a single screen that's segmented up into portions - one for the main, wider screen and a second lower one for the touch element. The plastic housing around it simply acts as a mask, giving the illusion that there are two screens in play.

The top/main screen is said to be covered to disable the touch-screen component.

The Nintendo 2DS was released on October 12th, alongside Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
