Misheard Just Dance 2014 Ad Sparks Racist Rants on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Critics have hit out at a recently broadcast advert for Just Dance on Wii U, with concerns of a misheard lyric.

The campaign features pop-star Nicky Minaj singing Starships, with at one point the Minja's name Onika is potentially mishead as the racist n-word. Given the line reads "My name is Onika", the mishearing seems completely unfounded.

Despite this, the tabloids have come out of slumber and pounced on the "racist" remark broadcast by Ubisoft and Nintendo, causing a stir amongst Twitter users.

That's hilarious - so it's never been brought up when the song was amazingly popular in the charts, but suddenly it's on a game being advertised for a Nintendo system and it sounds racist? Smilie

Understandable mix-up.
