The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara was recently asked why Nintendo decided to release Pokémon X and Pokémon Y at the same time around the world.
The reason that October 12th will be an important day for fans around the globe is to avoid those outside Japan feeling "left behind", said Ishihara in this week's Famitsu magazine. Previous releases, he feels, had allowed Japanese players more time to play and understand the game, and potentially reveal spoilers ahead of the localised release.
By releasing both games at the same time globally, it'll allow "around the world to enjoy the game on an equal stage" and he's looking forward to seeing how it pans out.
In related news, the game has broken its street date in certain cities, with one leaker even approached by Nintendo, having to give up his copy of the game.
Will you leap into the brand new Pokémon world next week?
