Rent Items in Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on 3DS on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

During Nintendo Direct today, Satoru Iwata discussed a convention-changing mechanic for Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

Within the main Legend of Zelda series, players would often venture through dungeons in a specific order, with the path from start to finish generally fairly linear. However in A Link Between Worlds, Nintendo are hoping to shape up convention by opening up a shop run by a character called Ravio. This peculiar chap will let Link rent items, eventually permanently purchasing them.

This would then allow dungeons, after a certain point, to be able to be tackled in any order depending on which items a player has available.

A Link Between Worlds is out on November 22nd in Europe and North America.

This is a pretty cool change but what I'm really happy about is that we finally got a small glimpse at some characters in the game plus a few cutscenes and it looks really charming! Smilie

I don't like the way this series is heading :-/

The style is nice, the gimmicks are nice....and this is sure to be better then ST and PH......but still. Its getting less about exploration/metrovania style.  Renting items though - just like the upgrades in SS - seems like a way to lengthen the game by collect-a-thons.
