WayForward has just informed Cubed3 that a brand new HD Shantae game is coming for PC and all major consoles, Wii U included. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero takes a 2D/3D hybrid approach to platforming -- and follows-up the company's recent release via Capcom, the superb Ducktales: Remastered.
The company has turned to crowd-funding in the hope of creating the biggest self-published game in WayForward's history. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is confirmed for multiple platforms; Wii U, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Steam.
The newest entry in the 'Shantae' series follows the events of this winter's pending Nintendo 3DS title Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. The new HD adventure promises to be a point of entry for newcomers to the series, and will feature Shantae's signature hair-whipping and shape-shifting, via magical belly dances. The animation, music, humour, and retro-inspired challenge will return as well, this time in full 1080p HD thanks to WayForward's own side-scrolling game engine.
Details surrounding the game will be revealed throughout the 30-day Kickstarter campaign, with some features determined by funding goals and fan input. This is the first crowd-funding endeavour by WayForward and is sure to be a massive success given the cult following Shantae has. It's already well on its way to reaching its goal after only just launching: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1236620800/shantae-half-genie-hero
