No Plans for Monster Hunter 4 on Sony PS Vita on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Capcom's Haruhiro Tsujimoto  recently re-iterated a desire to keep Monster Hunter 4 strictly on Nintendo 3DS.

In an interview with Japanese site Mainichi Shinbun Digital, Tsujimoto described how "in order to meet new expectations, it was required for us to switch platforms", after Monster Hunter had been on Sony's PlayStation format for many years.

He highlighted how there are "no plans for now" when talking about bringing Monster Hunter 4 to PlayStation Vita. "We want to have as many people as possible play it on the 3DS, and we are only thinking about making it succeed", with a goal of 2.8 million units for Monster Hunter 4 after seven months.

Monster Hunter 4 is out September 14th on Nintendo 3DS.

Considering Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, the third game in the third generation, sold about 2 million in Japan with the majority of those coming from a time when the 3DS was far less popular, I'd say their goal is easily achievable. Here's hoping we won't have to wait a year or more for Monster Hunter 4. Spring 2014 would be great!

Spring 14 sounds pretty feasible to me, methinks! Definitely a far bigger audience for it outside Japan these days.
