Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Flops Hard in Japan on Wii U on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The test to see if there's room for Yakuza on the Wii U may show a few stumbling blocks for the series on Nintendo's platform.

After releasing the HD remake on PS3 last year, SEGA decided to bring Yakuza 1 & 2 HD to the Wii U, complete with extra GamePad features. Despite the move, the game was a complete flop in its debut week on the market. According to Dengeki, the title flopped hard, missing on the top 50. This alone suggests that the game sold between zero and 2000 copies in its opening week.

Yakuza had previously been featured in a Nintendo Direct broadcast in Japan.

Could it be because it's an old port, or is the audience just not there?

It's because people just want everything for free nowadays and downloaded the game illegally.

It's a year old port of a HD remaster of oldish games. Because that's EXACTLY what WiiU owners want. :/

I hope Wonderful101 gets to the top to shop developers how it's done. Smilie

bringing both 1 and 2 to the table isn't the best move in the first place, i think there are lot less fans of Yakuza game now.

Prefer to play the series on PS4 anyway tbh.
