Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney Heading to Europe, North America in 2014 on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Fans may have been wondering, but Nintendo have finally confirmed the localised version of Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney for release in North America and Europe.

Now titled Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, the well-received cross-over brings together Capcom's cheeky attorney and Level-5's brains into a medieval world that's in desperate need of a bit of logic.

Aside from new English footage of the 3DS game, a 2014 release was confirmed for both regions.

Excited? Will you be getting this new cross-over adventure on Nintendo 3DS next year?

This was by far the best part of today's Nintendo Direct. Just the way they revealed the news and everything. Great job for revealing the news in an awesome and fun way, Shibata. Didn't watch the NA Direct, so I'm not sure if Reggie did the whole "Objection!" thing.

My thanks go out to Nintendo, Level 5 and Capcom. Really looking forward to playing this one! I hope they release a PW trilogy on the 3DS/eShop so I can finally get into that series.

'Tis a good day indeed!

Fantastic. This jumps to number 1 anticipated for me. Don't understand why this can't arrive sooner though - Christmas 2013 would be nice.

The 3DS is already covered pretty well for the rest of this year especially with Pokémon and Zelda, so I'd imagine they're trying to keep some stuff for early next year to avoid some games getting run over by bigger franchises and a drought afterwards.

Shibata's objection pose in the EU Direct was full of win. Iwata and Reggie better step their game up, Shibata is getting up there with his great moments. I've yet to play any Layton or Phoenix Wright game, though I'm planning to at some point unless they ever make a full collection for either one, then I'd have no excuse to not get it immediately. Maybe this crossover could introduce me to both series at once but I think I'd miss a lot of references too. Well, at least I still have plenty of time to think about it.

We already have Professor Layton and the Azran Legacies coming out in 2013. (Well, Europe does) I'd rather them save this one until 2014.

Why? At least if it comes out earlier I have the option.

You can save it all you want! I want it at Christmas. Smilie

Isn't it a case of Prof Layton 6 -> AA5 -> PL vs AA in terms of EU release dates? I think it would have made more sense to do PL6 -> PL vs AA -> AA5, in order to truly push AA more via the popularity of PL over here.

In other news... I really need to play the Ace Attorney games.

I'm coming at it from the other way - have played the Ace Attornies, but not a single Layton! Thinking Phoenix vs Layton will be a perfect way to get a sample of the franchise.

Abbreviations FTW! *lol*
I had to actually shuffle letters and search the alphabet to understand what you were saying - sort of.

MFG to use a German term.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Did you look it up and copy the phrase? Smilie QWERTY keyboards can't do those German letters like "ü" and "ß" on their own. Unless.. you actually know the Alt+xxxx codes for them, if so I'm impressed. Smilie

*lol* That's right, Adam. Very good.

I've got some Umlauts here for you if you want them:
äöü ÄÖÜ ß.

Don't do evil with them, with great power comes great responsibility!

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Danke schön!

Totally gone off topic now Smilie

sorry.
But you are great with german and its Umlauts. You did study me secretly, did you not?

But back to ontopic: I never played any Ace Attorney game, since I fear I can't build a great speech or plea for resolving the case. Should I get one of these games?

I find your lack of faith disturbing!
