E3 2013 | Debut Trailer and Screens for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

A brand new Donkey Kong Country has been announced for Wii U in development by Retro Studios.

The new project from Retro is another chapter in the popular Donkey Kong Country series, featuring a return of Diddy Kong in partner role in addition to the classic, much loved Dixie Kong. There'll be an array of new level designs, gameplay features and enemies as the trio set out to save Donkey Kong island from new frosty enemies - the Vikings.

With up to two player support, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is due for release this November on Wii U.

Loved DKC:Returns so I will definitely be getting it.

I'm surprised that Retro's name/logo wasn't shown or mentioned during the Direct.

I'm still hoping that this isn't their main project, why hype it up so much and then not even mention Retro? Something about this just doesn't make sense, at all.

That said, I loved DKCR much more than the original trilogy. If it's just as hard as DKCR, I'm on board.

This seemed to be one of the bigger disappointments for some people, mainly because they had been so secretive about what Retro has been working on which led to all sorts of speculation. Donkey Kong Country Returns was great fun so I will be looking forward to this one as well.
