Nintendo are launching the Wii U Virtual Console service together with the Spring system update next week - here's what the line-up looks like so far.

As collated from various trailers and during Nintendo Direct today, the current line-up of NES and SNES games on the Wii U virtual console boasts key favourites from the gaming giant's illustrious history. Super Mario Bros. 2, Mega Man 1, Yoshi's Cookie lead the NES campaign, together with SNES gems F-Zero and Super Mario World.

During Nintendo Direct, the much demanded Earthbound was confirmed for release in Europe and North America later this year.

These digital releases will also feature customisable controls, instant/quick save states plus the ability to play the entire game on the Wii U GamePad screen.

Not all games will be available when the Virtual Console service launches on the Wii U next week, but have been confirmed for release at some point.

id really like to see the wii u and 3ds start to use shared nintendo id accounts where buying the wii u or 3ds version of a game will give access to the same on the oppisite system. I don't expect cloud gaming right off the bat but that would be nice. it would also be much easier to set up and keep past titles for future consoles just having to register ones account that already has all your games on it.

^ Totally. It's like owning a music album. You'd expect to be able to play it on your MP3 player, your phone and stereo. No need to re-download it on different formats. Nintendo really need to step up with these sorts of things!

I'd really love that too, it's something that's bugged me for a while.

But mostly because my brother and I share cartridges and discs, so why can't we share digital games between 3DS'? I'd like an account system for 3DS' that lets us both download the games we get Smilie

It's kind of ridiculous they're releasing the same games for the Wii, Wii U and 3DS VCs. The Cloud is there in use for PSN right now, letting you transfer games and save data. With Nintendo's library, it would be even more popular and successful. But the lack of it, and needing to pay for separate versions, keeps me well away from it. I'll forever be cautious of buying anything digital from Nintendo.

Why so much Kirby? It's the ear of Luigi, not Kirby!
