Zero Escape is the outlandish sci-fi fantasy thriller horror "visual novel" adventure game that started off with a bang in 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. The series hit a high point with Virtue's Last Reward, which featured amazing character design, graphics, animations, and highly branched story flow. A third title was promised, which would tie the stories of the first two games together and give players closure on the bizarre story, which features everything from kidnapping to time traveling soul leaping.
Kotaro Uchikoshi, the game's director, has told Siliconera that the third game will take place between the first two games. No further news on the title, however check out Uchikoshi's interesting GDC presentation about how visual novels are designed and why he thinks they are the purest form of what a game is.
