A Look at Fantasy Life

Level-5 have released a new battle trailer for the Nintendo 3DS collaboration with Brownie Brown, Fantasy Life.

The latest in the studio's line of portable projects finally hits retail today in Japan after several different looks and a shift from the original Nintendo DS to the more powerful 3DS system back in 2010. Whilst a fair bit of the adventure revolves around settling in a town, trade and working in a peaceful world, the other half sees players wonder out into the bigger picture, tackling huge enemies in an engaging battle system.

We end the gameplay snippet with a quick look at what appears to be cooking. Delicious!

Looks like a more fleshed out version of FFCC: Ring of Fates. Hopefully it's less button mashing and a bit more strategy, still having a focus on action. It looks like the party AI is decent, and I'm excited to see what kind of control we get over their decision making.

I was also unaware of the extent of outside environments, so that's a nice surprise. I am SO ready for this game.

The battle system reminds me a lot of Rune Factory and things like cooking do too. I'd normally be interested but I played Rune Factory Frontier only a year ago and I already have a 3DS game that will eat up my life, which is Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
