The latest mainline entry in the popular rpg/adventure series is out in a matter of days in Japan, and the half-hour Nintendo Direct episode covers all the essentials. Speaking with famed Dragon Quest designer Yuji Horii, director Jin Fujisawa and producer Yousuke Saito, the trio explain character creation, exploration and example battles within the vast overworld.

Players can pick one of five different race classes, selecting the hair style, face, eyes, physical size and set a name for your new virtual alias.

That was a great presentation, and I look forward to playing this game, but I'll be getting the Wii U version since I'm sure it will be improved here and there AND it IS the Wii U version of a DQ game, which will surely make for some extra sales before the year is over.

Is it just me, or is Iwata the most media friendly president of Nintendo ever? This isn't even a first party game and there he is helping to explain everything. I like these "Nintendo Direct" videos, even if some are more exciting than others. Sony and Microsoft don't do this. (Kinda a shame, Kevin Butler would be hilarious!)

I love that they do these videos... but man I wish we could get some subtitles or a translator for this one.

I guess since the game isn't even confirmed yet... ugh.

Like video game music?!

Really? there is no date for the West? Or no date worldwide?
