After great success with the Nintendo DS Lite and DSi in South Korea, the 3DS is set to launch in April. The unit will arrive on 28th April for 220,000 Korean Won, which roughly equates to GBP130, and comes in a variety of colours: Misty Pink, Cosmo Black, and the recently revealed Cobalt Blue that will launch in Japan this month.
In terms of games, the following were mentioned in the update from Nintendo of Korea, including Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, as well as Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games in London. Other titles due before the end of 2012 include Star Fox 64 3D, Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, nintendogs + cats, and Super Pokémon Rumble.
Finally, after massive success with MapleStory DS at the launch of the Nintendo DSi in April 2010, it has been confirmed that Korean developer NEXON is currently working on MapleStory 3DS. With the DS iteration only arriving in Japan in December 2011, with no European release confirmed so far, hopes are not too high about seeing MapleStory 3DS either. However, there is still time for NEXON to get the DSi title out in the US and Europe, so there is a slim chance.
Do you think the Nintendo 3DS can follow in the footsteps of the Nintendo DS family and compete in South Korea against Apple's iPhone series and Samsung's Galaxy mobiles?
