Free Zelda Arrives on Download in EU on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DSi fans are sitting pretty this week, as two famous heroes are available for download in the coming days. The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition becomes available to download for free until 20th February, 2012 only on Nintendo DSiWare, whilst a spell is cast over the people of Mario Land in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, which becomes available as a Virtual Console game for Nintendo 3DS.

As part of the The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary celebrations play the classic Zelda 2D multiplayer adventure, The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition with up to three other players, by connecting your Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DSi XL or Nintendo 3DS wirelessly. Work together to rescue Princess Zelda after Link splits into four with the help of the Four Sword. However, unlike the original Game Boy Advance version, it is now possible to play the game in a brand new way as a single player. When you go solo you will not be totally alone, though, as an additional Link will appear beside the one you control to help during the adventure. It is even possible to independently control each of the Links by using the L or R Buttons.

Mario also needs help this week in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, as an evil creep called Wario took over his castle and put the people of Mario Land under his control with a magic spell. You must help Mario retrieve the 6 Golden Coins that have been scattered by Wario all over Mario Land. There is no time to waste!

Additionally, escapeVektor: Chapter 1 from developer Nnooo arrives on WiiWare. Take on 30 levels of retro arcade adventure action as you help Vektor escape after being locked inside your Central Processing Unit. He does not know how he got there and he cannot move around independently. Rest assured though, as he is an expert coder.

Check out the latest offerings this week in Europe via the Nintendo eShop on 3DS, the Nintendo DSi Shop and the Wii Shop Channel.

Both will be mine. Smilie

Four swords would be fantastic for comic-con meetups. ^^

So glad they've added in a 1 player mode, but tis a shame there's no online play. We could easily hook 4 of us up from Cubed3 any day of the week and get the game completed or help another one out.

Ah well, hopefully a brand new Four Swords online will come out in the future.

I hope some of you check out Mario Land 2 as well. Brilliant game.

Already got Mario Land 2, but I'll buy it again, it should look a lot better without the blur and a dark screen.

First time I've really been tempted by an eShop game despite completing the original as a kid Smilie

Can't wait to get me some Four Swords. Anybody know if you can play 2/3 player or is it limited to 1 or 4? I've got a 3DS and an XL so I could download it twice and get a friend to play, but with my brother and his 3DS that's 3 at the most.

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.

Don't need to download Super Mario Land 2, because I just got a transluceant GameBoy Play it Loud System with that game and Tetris!Smilie

Four Swords I'm on it like sputnick!

I'll be getting my copy the minute it's availible on the 28th!!

Lucky Brits & your earlier time zones...T_T

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422

Is this available in the UK and Europe today? They usually update the eShop on a Thursday.. and I've heard that it was releasing on the 28th, but I've also heard that it could be releasing on the Thursday. Smilie

I guess I'll have to wait until after college before checking.

You'll probably have it before us anyway. It's already 6 hours into the 28th, no sign of it yet. They'll probably put it up in the late afternoon. >.<

Our member of the week

They usually put their stuff up for download late into the morning/early afternoon. On the 3DS eShop at least, I dunno about the DSi and whether DSiWare stuff is put up simultaneously on both services.

I'd be surprised that it goes up today, frankly. Download day is on Thursday and there's no reason they would do an exception for Zelda (That's Nintendo for you). Having said that... I'd like to be proven wrong Smilie.

EDIT : Forget I said anything, I was wrong. Downloading it right now ! Smilie... although I won't have much time on my hands to play it. Oh well...

Ah very good! I'll be downloading it later.
I hope the internet connection I have here is better than the one I have at home, Nintendo eShop disconnects during download so much that it's extremely frustrating.

Actually it's the thing I like least about the 3DS why can't we have background downloads.
Weh.

Gave it a go and do enjoy it, but need a bit more motivation to really play through on solo. Need to find some folk with 3DS/DSi/XL to play with!
