Eternal Darkness developer Silicon Knights recently received a government grant for $2 million (CAN) for expansion and development.
The Canadian studio aims to expand its resources and skills by eventually recruiting 80 members of staff to expand the current team to a meaty 177 humans. CEO Denis Dyack also noted how he hoped the company would achieve a "self sustaining" status in the future.
Silicon Knights was originally a second party for Nintendo, crafting together the much loved GameCube hit Eternal Darkness and working alongside Konami to remake Metal Gear Solid as The Twin Snakes. Eventually the studio opted to become a third party, but has expressed working on Nintendo formats once again.
With an expansion in sight, thanks to the generous folk of Canada, crafting titles for Wii, Wii U and 3DS could certainly be a possibility for Nintendo's old buddies.
Thanks N-Europe.
