Robin Williams Loves Zelda - New Advert on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Robin Williams named his daughter after Zelda. Yes, after the Legend of Zelda. The pair celebrate a love for dungeons and swords in a new advert to promote Ocarina of Time 3D.

The Hollywood legend, who's stared in films like Good Will Hunting, Bicentennial Man, Aladdin, Patch Adams and Happy Feet is an avid fan of video-games, and together with his wife and son Zachary enjoyed the original Legend of Zelda game when it first landed in 1987.

Hours on hours would go by and we’d become completely immersed in the epic adventure. My favourite part was solving the puzzles. I loved exploring every room to find secret passages and hidden objects. I vividly remember the sound the doors would make when they opened.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Smilie

Wow, he's looking old Smilie

Great that Nintendo got somebody with an actual interest in the game to do an advert. One Direction can shove it!

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.

That one, which you can see in the suggestions after the one in the news is played, is also very interesting.

Thanks for the link Kafei2006. Didn't realize there was another video.

I like the way Nintendo is doing this one. Funny how I'll buy the game a year ahead of me actually owning a 3DS just because I want that limited edition soundtrack CD for my collection hehehe.

That was a really awesome commercial that was actually genuine in their emotions and love of The Legend of Zelda.

Yea, I was really surprised and impressed that Robin Williams knew who Samus and Epona were. Usually when big name stars talk about video games, it's always CoD or something.

I will be hated for this but there was some good acting there... Also! I mean in the 2nd vid. Go through it and listen to what they say and you'll see Smilie

Well, there's a reason why his daughter's named Zelda, Robin (and Zelda) are massive Nintendo fans, so I doubt they needed to do much acting.

Robin really does look like an old wise man with that beard, it suits him.

Naturally there is going to be some setup to get them to do certain things for the video, but overall it is really genuine and they are not simply celebrities being paid to promote the game. If you don't have a love and passion for the series, you certainly don't name your child after it.

Robin may or may not be an active gamer anymore, but Zelda certainly is and has played through all the games in the series.

Also, the 2nd video is the only one I watched when I posted.

I'm glad to see that there are some celebrities that love Zelda as much as me. Smilie
