New Trailer for Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii) on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

During this year's Game Developer's Conference, Nintendo unveiled a short montage of gameplay from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

The latest chapter in the now 25-year story finds Link embarking on an all new quest, complete with mechanics tailor made to the Wii MotionPlus control, including 1:1 swordplay and a mechanical flying beetle. Within the new footage we find protagonist Link chopping his way through various things, enemies and shields. On that note, a possible shield meter also makes a not-so-subtle appearance.

Chop, chop!

There's also a spit-second flash of a caped figure who seems to probably have a mouth ulser. Perhaps the Midna equivalent helper-chap for this adventure?

If they make another Zelda game, I think there should be more side quests. I still find Majora's Mask to be the best Zelda game for that very reason. I just didn't want to stop playing for all the awesome side quests.

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

I'm impressed by what we saw, but I really don't like the facial modelling of that character in the insert above.

Maybe it's just the trailer but all the colours look soooo washed out. Hopefully the final game is more like Wind Waker with the Colour. It's too bland atm.

It's definitely the trailer. Here's the best upload of it I found so far:

Looks slightly better than the one posted here but it's still far from doing the actual game justice. You have to remember that this trailer is low quality and captured directly from a stream. Here's the E3 trailer as a comparison, where you can clearly see that there's much more colour if the trailer quality is good.

If Nintendo gave us some high quality screenshots like those Ocarina of Time 3D ones from GDC, it would have probably left a much better impression for many.Smilie

Yeah, it was definitely the trailer making the colours seem washed out.

I think the game looks nice, the colouring looks just about right.
