3DS at GAME: £196, Trade-in Available on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

UK retailer GAME has confirmed an online price reduction for both 3DS consoles, plus the option to trade the console back for £190.

The online price now down to £196.99, matching similar reductions from other retailers and supermarkets.

If you buy from the retailer's website before April 25th and keep the relevant proofs of payment, you'll be able to return the console for £190 trade-in credit to spend at GAME. Fancy good, hard cash instead? Game will pay £180 for your used 3DS.

That said, with a solid launch line-up and a whole host of features to keep you entertained, chances of returning the console may be slim indeed!

Well they knew they were being out done by other stores, they had to eventually bring the price down too. Still, don't trust GAME.

They're still charging full price in store.

They'll get to keep all the money from a second hand sale, which is probably why they are happy to give back so much of the value back. Second hand will only probably sell for £2 less than brand new anyway.

If it is a sell out on launch, people will probably get more money selling them on eBay anyway.

Depending on how insane the demand gets, prices are likely to skyrocket after launch. Massive shortages are sure to come too. Stuff like this makes me really glad that I pre-ordered because I don't have to worry about it for a second. Smilie

Why would I want to return the 3DS?

You suddenly want the other colour more, perhaps?

The trade in credit lasts forever, right? Then it may come in useful if (when) Nintendo releases the next version of the 3DS.

Especially after one month...when there'll be more games to play on it

You might be unimpressed with it?

If your buying it at launch you probably already have a good idea of what your buying, your most likly a person like us, dedicated Nintendo or handheld gamer.

I can't imagine someone preordering from GAME not knowing what it is, getting it then thinking "this isn't what I expected!" I shall return it.

I mean who would spend £200 so frivolously?
But I guess there is people like this in the world.
Dosn't make sense to me, by now I would have a good idea if I really wanted it or not to go through the bother of even ordering it.

The only thing I can think of where this would be useful if it ends up an unwanted present.
