The Legendary Broken Saints......Becomes a Video Game!Game DataThere has been furore surrounding the brilliance of Broken Saints, an online chilling tale of four troubled protagonists answering a "spiritual call-to-arms", created by Brooke Burgess, that has now attracted over two million readers and many fans throughout not only the general populace of the world, but across the media industry as a whole since its initial inception roughly two years ago. Now that the actual online section has concluded with a full 24 Chapters now available for free download at the Official Broken Saints Website, other side-projects are appearing, such as extra soundtracks, a special DVD, TV & film negotiations and an already in-progress video game, the latter of which could very well be of interest to GBA and GC owners. Each month Saintly fans receive an newsletter updating all on the goings-on in the world of BS. This is what was included in the latest newsletter from the clever Canadians: "On the VIDEOGAME front: The BS LEVEL DEMO is in production, with the game design finalized, the schedule mapped, and the demo's dev team locked down. We've got a handful of major game publishers eager to see what interactive magic can be crafted, so the heat is officially on! Assets are WELL underway as you read this, and you'll be happy to hear that the full flavour of BS will remain absolutely intact. As previously revealed, the genre is ADVENTURE (with some key moments of action!) Inspired by such classics at Shadowrun, Sierra's Quest games, Broken Sword, and Silicon Knight's Eternal Darkness! And yes, for all you hardcores out there desperate to know what and WHO the demo focuses on, this much can be revealed...sandstorms are a nifty particle effect, and a certain bleach-headed rebel looks dope in 3D!!!" Here is a snippet of information on Gnosis Games, the fledgling company that is designing Broken Saints: The Video Game: "Gnosis Games is an exciting new development studio in Vancouver, where content is king and the tools of light and sound will fuse and give birth to what games were always meant to be - engrossing and intelligent experiences that make us think, feel, and question the world around us. Gnosis is currently developing multiple original properties for both the PC and the next generation of game consoles." So whilst it is indeed a newly formed company, there are definitely some superb ideas floating around and talent to match...and anyway, they must be good, or else the Broken Saints folk would have taken the theme elsewhere - in fact, if you look at the website closely enough you will see that Brooke Burgess himself is the Producer at the company! Here is a some information of the creative wizard of Broken Saints, Mr Brooke Burgess: "Gnosis Games Producer - Brooke Burgess has four plus years in the trenches as a producer and contractor for entertainment software giant Electronic Arts (Canada), Burgess is the proverbial wizard behind the gaming curtain. Beginning his career in 1997 crafting core gameplay, directing cinematic sequences, and managing audio and level design for the multi-million selling 'Need for Speed' franchise, his contributions continued to shine across the gaming spectrum. From scripting, localization, and direction on the Japanese warfare sim 'Kessen' - to major story and design contributions on James Bond: 007 Racing and the award-winning snowboard extravaganza SSX Tricky. By 2001, Brooke went on with two young prodigies in the fields of 2D art and Web technology to realize his biggest accomplishment yet. Brooke is the creator of the globally praised and multi-award-winning cinematic literature saga "Broken Saints". Within two years, this chilling tale of four troubled protagonists answering a "spiritual call-to-arms" had reached over 2 million viewers worldwide, nabbed the pretigious Sundance Online Film Festival's Audience Award, and was in early negotiations for film and television development. As the Chief Creative Officer for Gnosis Games, Burgess will be the torch-bearer and evangelist for the studio's creative vision, and will harness his industry expertise, marketing savvy, and professional network to secure it's spot in the upper echelon of next-generation videogame developers." Currently it is unclear whether Nintendo's systems will actually see the game at some point - but as the BS clan are big Nintendo fans and have been hinting at the story appearing on one or both Nintendo systems at some point right from Chapter One all that time ago, it would be extremely surprising if we did not see BS: TVG in the near future! Below we at C3 can bring you the first screens from this potentially lovely game.
